*or, so I'm told

Growing up in Hawaii as a Filipino girl with a not so Filipino name provided me with me a lot of lessons. None more important than the sense of compassion, community and collaboration. I love bringing that every day to my work, clients and co-workers. From my process, to the learning, patience, and teamwork, community and collaboration are at the core of my design ethos.

The other thing growing up in Hawaii gave me was a love for the outdoors. In my free time if I'm not drawing or knitting, I’m on roadtrips, bike rides, or hiking around the Bay Area. I also make a mean Thai curry and love mixing up the occasional mini-umbrella adorned drink.

Please pet your dog and/or cat for me and feel free to say aloha if you want to talk shop.

Jack of all trades,
Jill of the bartering system. Wait, what?

1. Identify

Identify the problem, establish the audience, the main product value, and market placement. Assure your brief is clear and concise.

2. Planning

Often overlooked but perhaps the most important part, as this is where we start to set expectations with the client, by planning and scheduling a work back schedule and reviews.

3. Discovery

Research competitive brands, create mood boards, and begin visual language explore.

4. Drafting & Design

The (more) fun part! Start to explore design through color, textures, type, and copy. Define the brand language and apply to relevant touch points.

5. Feedback

Once a first round of design is created, it’s time to review with client! Then we discuss, iterate based on agreed feedback, and get to our happy design place.

6. Launch

When the client gives the thumbs up, the final design files get passed along to the necessary parties, and we get to watch our wonderful design baby live its best self out in the real world. It’s also aforementioned tiki drink time.

My Process

The key to unlocking good design decisions is having a solid design process that allows our minds to be creative in the right ways. This may or may not include loads of funny gifs.
